This was a first time ever for a trial like this to be run in Canada. All 4 classes on one day, in 4 separate running grounds. Don't let anyone tell you our hare hounds aren't good gundogs and snowhounds. Saturday's running in all 4 classes at Oshawa was everything a houndman (or woman) could ask for. In the 13" bitch class that I was at, the hounds (17 of them) pounded for 5 hours. We saw them several times and they were 30 seconds behind the hare (in 5-6" of snow). One time, we saw the hare cross a full 5 minutes ahead of the pack, and yet they ran the line like it was painted. The winning bitch carried the freight the entire way. Paul Pazienza said after that this is the best snow hound he's ever owned (FTCH Armando's Tiger Lilly). An Oshawa club member (Manny Figueiredo) finished his 15" male here with 5 wins to his credit. Also nice to see was our club President, Geoff Montgomery win the 15" female class of 25 entries with his derby bitch, Greenvalley Matty Magee.
